What is St. Demetrius Residence?

St. Demetrius Residence is a 15-story, 259-unit, independent seniors apartment. Residents are aged 65 years and over.

The complex offers several apartment layouts. They include a small bachelor, large bachelor as well as one and two bedroom units. Click here to view blueprints of the apartments at St. Demetrius Residence.

Each apartment has hardwood floors, an individual electric heating system, tenant-controlled thermostat in the bedroom and dining room. There is a provision for tenant-installed air conditioning. Each kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator and stove. There is a full four-piece bathroom in each apartment.

Standard building features include indoor and outdoor parking, balcony, landscaped outdoor patio, two elevators, and lounge common rooms on the first and third floors. Exercise bicycles, craft rooms, laundry facilities, on-site tuck shop (store), museum, billiards room, chapel and library are available for tenants' use and enjoyment.

Is subsidization available?

Yes, subsidization is available from the City of Toronto, Community and Neighbourhood Services to individuals who meet the eligibility criteria. Subsidization is dependent upon family income and assets owned. For more details please visit: www.housingconnections.ca or call

What neighbourhood amenities are available?

St. Demetrius Residence is located in a lovely residential area in the West end of Toronto, west of Scarlett Road, east of Royal York Road, north of Eglinton Avenue. Shops and a bank are directly across the street at La Rose Plaza. Larger plazas such as Royal York and Humbertown offer a wider variety of stores and are accessible by public transportation. There are municipal and private golf and country clubs within easy access of St. Demetrius Residence.

The beautiful Humber River Valley is a very short distance away. The Humber River Valley Park has paved walking/bicycle paths to allow residents to enjoy nature at its best. There are several other large parks just steps away from the Residence.

A medical centre offering laboratory, physiotherapy and x-ray services is a short cab-ride away.

The Residence is approximately a 20-minute drive from Pearson International Airport. Access to Highways 400 & 401 is within minutes.

We are situated a short drive away from the Toronto Olympiad where pools and various programs are available for membership. As well, there are swim programs offered at Montgomery pool located in the Dundas/Islington area. There is an outdoor pool within a short walking distance from the Residence.

Services are offered on Wednesdays in the chapel at St. Demetrius Residence. Catholic services are offered at the neighbouring church of St. Demetrius-The-Great-Martyr and at the Care Centre chapel where Ukrainian Orthodox services are also offered. Churches of other denominations are within close proximity of the Residence.

Garden plots are available so you can begin, or continue, your love of gardening.
