Supportive Care Services

Supportive Care Services provide 24-hour, 7 days a week, on-site service for qualified tenants of St. Demetrius Residence. Personal Support Workers aid seniors in maintaining their independence while reinforcing the concept of aging-in-place. Seniors identify supportive care services as crucial to their ability to live independently in the community as long as possible.

The program is designed to provide essential services that are culturally sensitive therefore services are provided in both English and Ukrainian. At present approximately 100 residents benefit from this service.

What type of service does the Supportive Care Services program provide?

St. Demetrius Supportive Care Services provides scheduled personal services to assist with:

  • Shopping
  • Banking
  • Light cleaning
  • Laundry
  • Light meal preparation
  • Dressing
  • Personal hygiene
  • Medication monitoring
  • Emotional support
  • 24-hour emergency response
Funding and Applying for Supportive Care Services

Funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the service is offered free of charge to qualified seniors who require Supportive Care Services.

To apply, contact the Supportive Care Services Office at (416) 246-7979. An assessment will be done to determine if you are eligible. If you are, a service plan will be developed based on the assessment.

Who are the Supportive Care Services staff?

Trained and experienced Supportive Care staff provide services in both English and Ukrainian. The services are available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
